  • And now, we still have a hole but at least it isn’t as noticeable. If you want the Lowe’s tutorial we followed let me know! We saved a ton (like over a grand) building this fountain ourselves rather than buying a premade fountain #diyfountain
  • Things we changed in this kitchen: closed in a walkway to make a pantry, built a custom door for the pantry, moved the microwave into a cabinet and made the alcove for the cooktop, replaced cabinets, changed the island layout, veneered/refaced mdf to look like solid wood, painted and installed ikea cabinets, moved hvac registers to hide the soffit, built in a banquette and a bunch of little things and it only took 7 years 😂😂😂😂 when you do it all yourself it doesn’t go fast. #diylife
  • 🎉Want cheap, affordable, diy plans with every link, faq’s and plenty of details to make it happen? I got you! Comment below if you’re looking for a solution to the expensive brass rails you’re seeing in everyone’s home these days. I’ve found a genius way to use unlaquered brass for lamp parts and turn them in to rails for shelves. I almost wrote the full tutorial here but realized I would run out of space. It’s one of my post pinned ideas on Pinterest and a huge driver to our blog through Google but I realize I haven’t shared it enough here.

If you’re feeling like your kitchen or space is a little too modern with your open shelves, add a brass rail. This is the perfect addition to all of those modern farmhouse and mcm open shelves everyone added to their kitchens in the last decade. Let me know if you’ve been looking for this! #brassrailing #brassrail #diyhomedecor #inexpensiveupgrades #kitchenupdate
  • Do the thing that terrifies you! What are you working on this weekend? Building this alcove bed was so intimidating to me. I knew it needed to be strong, but I also had to think how every reveal would look every door and piece of trim would be finished. How it would look from the side, etc. every piece of it a puzzle. I was terrified I’d miss something. But I did it anyway. I’d never built arch doors before and I was so overwhelmed by getting them right. I couldn’t love this room more and so happy Sienna asked me to build it for her. #girlswhodiy #buildinghome #alcovebed #nancymeyers
  • Sherwin Williams Gale Force. If you want to create a warm, inviting and cozy space with a moody vibe this blue green color is perfect. #nancymeyersaesthetic #traditionalbedroom #alcovebed #creatingspacesyoulove #creatingspaces
  • Not quite done yet but this Bridgerton worthy room is almost complete. Over a year ago Sienna and I started planning out her room. Her wish list: an alcove bed with curtains, more storage, a cozy sitting area, moody vibe. Oh and a chandelier! I’ve checked almost everything off that list and all I need to hang are the curtains. I wish when she came to me I could have snapped my fingers and given her exactly what she wanted but tbh I had to do this room in between work, coaching, other projects and other obligations so it took a year to get here. But that’s diy, we fit it into the books and crannies of our lives-making time for it -even when it’s only a few minutes. Each small piece helps build the puzzle and before you know it the time passes and you’ve (anti-climactic as it may be) finished. #bridgertonhomedecor #victorianhome #moodybedroom #colordrenching #ikeahack #alcovebed #builtinbed #malmhack #billyhack #billybookcasehack #billybookcase
  • When you DIY you do more than just change your home. You put pieces of your heart and soul in to it in ways a contractor never could. Every room in our home has been touched by my hands. Every home we have lived in together I’ve put pieces of my soul in to. I do this because I love my family and the home they represent. I love creating a magical backdrop for their lives. I love knowing that home has become so personally integrated into their hearts that when they build their own one day this will be the foundation they think of. DIY isn’t just about building or accomplishing a task here. Here it’s a part of our lives and how we give to each other. It’s an act of love and sacrifice. It build discipline and strength. It teaches value and patience. To all my diy friends we are not just building houses or things we are building dreams, memories and lives. Great work friends! #diyhomeprojects #diyhomeimprovement #diykitchen #diydesign #homeinspiration #moderncottage #californiatraditional
  • 🎉🎉🎉The top 5 reasons why I chose to install an ikea kitchen (versus building it from scratch myself) and if you’re into diy-you should too.
1. Value - the amount of options for inserts, organization, drawers within drawers, interior lighting, glass doors the list goes on but basically if you want these things but don’t have a five sometimes six figure budget you can still make it happen with ikea. Plus they come with a 25 year warranty. If my cabinet falls a part it’s a whole lot easier to call Ikea and have them send me new parts then try and find a contractor who installed them 10 years ago.
2. Convenient - we ordered the kitchen and it was able to be picked up that same day. Plus if I decide I want to add another hidden drawer or organizer - it’s a simple order pick up. They also deliver everything for a flat fee.
3. Incredible customizing options-mix and match fronts, sizes, use wall cabinets for banquet seating, make your own fronts, add trim-it is only limited to your imagination.
4. You can diy the install and save thousands.
5. They have so many different sizes - we used several of their full height cabinets to hide a soffit we couldn’t remove.

🙌🏼We have had ours for 7 years now and they still function and look brand new. Have you been laughed at or belittled for choosing IKEA? Let them laugh-leaves more for us. #ikeakitchen #ikeahack #ikeahome #ikeahackers #lovemyhome #ikeaupgrade #bodbyn #bodbynikea #ikeasektion #ikeasektionkitchen #cottagecore #modernfarmhouse #ambularinteriorsaintgotnothingonme #crappyiphonepicsaremyjam #smallcontentcreator #cljsquad
  • 🎉🎉🎉I cut all this picture frame moulding in 20 minutes. I spent years figuring out this technique to save time and now I’m sharing it with you. Because one, diy is time consuming and unless you went to school for this you probably never learned how to do it efficiently. And two, because you probably work and are fitting this in during the time you’d normally spend with your friends or family or even just relaxing on your days off.
🔆If you found the pictures moved too quickly to read through them here’s the tip written out:
1. Cut a left corner on the ends of all your trim.
2. Pull your tape measure out and lock it - choose a length that is about six inches longer than the longest length that you’ll need.
3. Hook/press the left corner you cut in the end of the tape-the left corner allows you to work in a way that you naturally would. Left to right.
4. Mark where the right corner cut will be.
5. Cut a left corner at that mark-leaving a small hair/remnant of the line so you can come back later. Set that piece aside.
6. Measure your next piece using the new left corner from the trim stock you had left over from your last piece. Mark the right corner and cut it the same as the last piece. Set that piece aside. Continue this until you get to the end of that trim stock. Turn your miter saw to a right corner cut and make the last cut right where it should be to make a left and right corner cut picture frame moulding.
7. Grab the trim you precut with all left corners and cut all the right corners on the marks.
How does this save you time? You measure more efficiently and you aren’t wasting time switching the saw from left to right between each cuts.
This picture frame moulding tip is in more details in my highlights and I have blogged about it. If you’ve started implementing this in your wood working since I shared it a few years ago I’d love to hear about it. If you have any questions about how this works and need more info let me know!
